the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has hailed his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her “perseverance, endurance and independent character.”
The senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District clocked 60 years on Monday.
A statement by the APC leader’s media office, said Tinubu spoke to journalists at his Bourdillon, Lagos residence, describing Oluremi as his greatest friend, ally and supporter.
He said, “We are a living symbol of love, care, perseverance and commitment. There are so many moments, many twists and turns in our lives.
“You know, during the dark days when democracy was assaulted in this country, we suffered a lot, the family suffered. As a result of that, she was in America while I was criss-crossing Europe.
“She was raising our children all by herself. It was a very trying period for every one of us.
“This moment when Nigeria is 60, my wife is also 60. It is a wonderful thing. My wish is for her to live longer, for her legacy to be great, be in good health and continue to enjoy the fruit of her labour.”
Meanwhile, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly at the Plenary on Monday showered on Oluremi on her 60th birthday celebration.
The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, described the senator as “a woman of honor, integrity, substance and faith who used her position to touch many lives especially that of the underprivileged.”
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Wasiu Sanni-Eshilokun, said, “She is an explicit woman; one of the qualities you will learn from Senator Oluremi is how to be time conscious. She is well organised and worthy of emulation. I wish her many happy returns”.
The Majority Leader, Sanai Agunbiade, “She is one person who sacrifices and has dedicated her life to the emancipation of the oppressed people in the country.”
Other members spoke of about the virtues of the senator and wished her many happy returns.
