Sporting Lisbon interested in Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey

Sporting Lisbon have enquired about the possibility of signing Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey on loan.
The Portuguese side are in the market for a new right-back as they face the prospect of losing Pedro Porro to Tottenham Hotspur, with talks ongoing over a deal to take the Spain international to north London.
In the meantime, Sporting have contacted Brighton to discuss taking Lamptey on a temporary basis as they explore options in the event of Porro leaving. Porro is seen as a key player for Sporting, where he has scored three goals and claimed 11 assists in 25 appearances under Ruben Amorim this season.
Lamptey, 22, has continued to attract interest from clubs in the Premier League and overseas despite making just one start in the top flight this season.
The former Chelsea defender has made a combined 16 appearances in the Premier League under former manager Graham Potter and current boss Roberto De Zerbi but 15 of those have come from the bench.
Lamptey moved to Brighton from Chelsea in January 2020 on an initial three-and-a-half-year deal.
The full-back signed a new long-term contract 12 months later when he committed his future to the south coast side until June 2025.
He represented Ghana at the recent World Cup in Qatar, featuring in two of their three group-stage games as they exited the tournament at the first hurdle.
Lamptey previously represented England at youth level but switched allegiances to Ghana in May 2022.
He has made 71 appearances for Brighton altogether.
