Hummels unlikely to renew Roma contract

The future of Mats Hummels remains unaddressed.

The former Dortmund centre-back spent the last 25 days away from the pitch, a break between training and Roman life, often documented on his social media channels with walks and gym sessions around the capital.

A new experience for him, in his first season outside of Germany, which could however remain an isolated chapter.

Hummels’ contract with Roma expires on June 30 and, at the moment, there are no signs of a renewal, writes La Repubblica.

The defender has not yet made a final decision, but the desire to get closer to his family and his son seems to be pushing him towards a return to the Bundesliga.

His adventure in Giallorossi has been characterized by ups and downs, between changes on the bench and a role that was never entirely central, but the future could bring him back to his homeland to end his career.
