Bundesliga: Hertha Berlin vs. Borussia Dortmund Preview, Odds, Prediction

Check out our preview for Saturday's Bundesliga clash between Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund along with odds and prediction.

The last Bundesliga game this Saturday involves Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund. The way these two sides play, it should be an interesting contest, with lots of goals. Hertha is in the middle of the standings, and following a good start, the Old Lady from Berlin slowed down, posting several bad results. Meanwhile, Borussia lost against Bayern in Klassiker, snapping a four-game winning streak in Bundesliga.

Hertha (+400) defeated Augsburg in the latest encounter, pretty convincingly, 0-3. However, before this event, they had five in a row without a victory, four losses, and one draw. Both of Hertha’s triumphs came on the road.

In three matches in Berlin, the Old Lady recorded two defeats and a draw, with a total goal difference of 2-6. That one point was against Wolfsburg, 1-1, at the start of November. When looking at the results, we can see that Hertha’s performances tend to be better and more efficient on the road.

From 8 competitive contests played this season, seven were over 2.5 goals, and the same number saw both teams to score. But listen to this, those two that weren’t were in Berlin.

Borussia Dortmund (+190) had four victories in a row before Bayern defeated them at Signal Iduna Park, 2-3. During those four wins, Lucien Favre’s side didn’t allow a single goal, and that was the case in most of their triumphs this year. They currently tie the second place in league with only five conceded goals, which is something new with Dortmund.

We got used to seeing the Millionaires as a high-paced offensive-minded team throughout recent years, who doesn’t care about the defense too much. Things are changed now.

Haaland and youngsters are doing their jobs solid, yet they tend to be too selfish, which often costs their team a lot. Instead of avoiding complications, Borussia’s attackers often make an extra-move failing to score.

Latest News

Santiago Ascacibar, Jhon Cordoba, are out due to injuries, while Jordan Torunarigha has COVID-19. Dedryck Boyata and Lucas Tousard are questionable for the hosts, with the latter one probably skipping this clash.

Borussia doesn’t have such problems, with only Marcel Schmelzer and Dan-Axel Zagadou missing tonight’s event.

Head to Head Games

Dortmund has three consecutive victories over Hertha, and all of them were narrow, by a one-goal margin. Overall, the Millionaires haven’t lost against the Old Lady in six straight games.

Their meetings in Berlin are interesting. The past four saw both sides scoring, and four in five ended with three or more goals.

The only thing here that goes in Hertha’s favor is that they had fewer players involved in international duties. Nevertheless, the guests from Dortmund have a deeper roster, and look more confident during this campaign.

The Millionaires’ win should be safe here. We aren’t going to speculate about the efficiency, but recommend Borussia’s plain win. The odds are not as high as we would like them to be, but the risk here is low.
