Callum Wilson has shared a cryptic post on social media amid uncertainty surrounding his Newcastle United future.

The 31-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, has been named as a player who could leave the Magpies before transfer deadline day as his club look to raise funds to ease concerns over profit and sustainability guidelines. It has been stated Wilson could be available for £18million, which has placed Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United "on alert" as they each search for a striker to address their shortcomings in this part of the pitch.

That is according to the Evening Standard, who have claimed the player is on the market for the three clubs should they choose to make a move for his services. As talk continues over his future at St James' Park, Wilson has shared an intriguing post on X (formerly Twitter) with an hourglass emoji and the following quote: "Don't compare your life to others. There's no comparison between the sun and the moon, they shine when it's their time."

Speaking out on how he views his current situation, the ex-Bournemouth recently said on his podcast with Michail Antonio: “It’s January. The window is open and there is always speculation with players, not just regarding myself but with everyone else in the squad as well. I haven’t got much more to say than that.”

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has made no secret of the club's need to sell before being able to buy and recently remarked: "We do discuss things on a regular basis so there's no surprise to me. We've been working under Financial Fair Play restrictions for a long time.

"Selling players is part of every football club's DNA now. It has to be with Financial Fair Play rules because we have to generate more income. To sign players, we may have to sell players. It doesn't necessarily mean 'star' players, whatever is meant by that term, but certainly selling players will be something this club will do now for the foreseeable future."
