Robert Lewandowski Provides Rabona Assists In 8-0 Bayern Munich Win

The Champions League winners picked up in the Bundesliga where they left off last season and battered Schalke.

'Just give them the title now' were the thoughts of many after seeing Bayern Munich demolish Schalke.

The Champions League holders started their campaign to win a ninth Bundesliga title in-a-row on Friday night and they kicked things off with an 8-0 win over their historic bitter rivals.

Probably the highlight of the night was Robert Lewandowski returning many favours for Thomas Muller by turning provider for the German.

Hans Flick's side conquered all before them last season, winning yet another league title, the DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League, and they're likely to only get better this season.

In the summer the Germans added Leroy Sane from Manchester City to an already excellent attack, and it was a good night from all of their front four.

Muller got his goal, as did Lewandowski and Sane whilst Serge Gnabry bagged a hat-trick, with Leon Goretzka also getting in on the act along with Jamal Musiala, who became the club's youngest scorer.

Speaking to the club's website after the match, Flick said that his team had 'laid down a marker,' "We have done excellently.

"Before the game we said we wanted to lay down a marker, and we did so with aplomb. We wanted to show that we are also ready for this season. I'm glad that we've brought such a performance onto the pitch today."

It seems highly unlikely anyone else in Germany will get close to that marker this season and it's only game one!
