Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting CP this winter.

The London outfit have been in negotiations with Sporting all January about the transfer.

With no breakthrough in negotiations, Spurs appear ready to pay Porro's release clause.

The Athletic claims that Spurs will pay the £40 million that Sporting are seeking for the right wing back.

The news report adds that Sporting are now looking at Brighton's Tariq Lamptey as an alternative.

Lamptey has a contract with Brighton that lasts until 2025.
