Ratings: Atlético Madrid slump continues in rare loss at Real Betis

Oblak
The only player in blue who leaves the Villamarín with some credit. Made three saves as Real Betis threatened throughout but were highly inefficient, could do little to prevent the fourth-minute Josema Giménez own goal that won the game. 4
Molina
Defends his position well in isolated moments but is woefully short on confident, exemplified by his subpar crossing and even reluctance to break forward on the ball. With Marcos Llorente’s return imminent, it really should spell the end for Molina as a starter at Atlético de Madrid — he has been out of form for an entire calendar year. 3
Witsel
Caught out easily for his lack of speed; Betis did their homework and targeted the space behind the Belgian relentlessly throughout, particularly in the first half. Not fair on the 36-year-old to continue hoping he fights against Father Time. 3
Giménez
Deflected Ez Abde’s cross behind Jan Oblak for what turned out to be the game’s only goal. Pretty good otherwise, though susceptible to counterattacks in the second half as the visitors made some effort to score. 3.5
Reinildo
Picked up a yellow in the opening minutes. A ticking time bomb out of possession and unreliable on the ball, at one point sending the ball straight out of bounds as he tried to build play with Samuel Lino. Removed at halftime. 3
Koke
One of those games where it looks like Atlético Madrid’s skipper is getting to the end of the line at this level. After a colorless first half, Koke tried to take control of the match, and no player completed more passes than the 32-year-old. But Atlético still failed to create clear chances. 5
Gallagher
Betis forced the England international to make decisions on the ball and he looked awkward, as well as uncertain in duels. He was removed at halftime. 4.5
De Paul
Largely ineffective, tried to break lines with his passes but many of them went into empty spaces. 4
Lino
Continues without a goal in 2024/25. Had trouble keeping the ball and his decision-making has not improved relative to last season. 4.5
Griezmann
Whether on the forward or midfield lines, Griezmann struggled to craft chances for his teammates and had his one on-target shot attempt saved from outside the box. 4.5
Alvarez
Mustered only a single shot on net, despite intent and hunger to contribute. Had his chance to run the show after Antoine Griezmann was substituted 20 minutes from time, and he was able to set up an Ángel Correa header that skimmed the woodwork. 5.5
Sørloth
Entered at halftime. The striker hunted for chances in the box, but had only one errant header from a corner that ended up in the seats. 4.5

Galán
Replaced a struggling Reinildo. Had the occasional move forward, but spent a good amount of time trying to stop Betis’ attacks down the line. Had his high boot in the box overturned by VAR, preventing a spot kick. 5
Correa
Caused some problems for Rui Silva and the opposition’s defense; maybe should have been brought on before the 70th minute. Was denied by the post twice. 5.5
Giuliano Simeone
Showed energy and a clear intent to push the ball forward, but couldn’t do enough to produce a final product. 5
Lemar
In a rare appearance — his first in over a year — Lemar added another attacking option on the ball. He ended with a key pass in his limited time on the pitch. N/A
